How to get your CPA in Australia?

Steps to help you get your CPA in the accounting industry

You must hold a degree level qualification. This can be either an Australian degree or a degree assessed as being equivalent to an Australian degree.

You need to have completed the business and accounting subjects at university that have been specified by CPA Australia. These may be in an undergraduate program, a graduate conversion course, or completed as individual university subjects once you've graduated from a degree.

You must join CPA Australia as an Associate member to be eligible to enrol in the CPA Program.

Allow Associate members must complete a MOW before advancing to CPA status.

You must have completed the CPA Program, a postgraduate course designed to bridge the gap between the theory of your university studies and the practicalities of the workplace.

You should have three years of relevant mentored work experience. Mentored work experience means you can take advantage of the extensive experience of CPAs as you establish yourself in your chosen career.

You must give an ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards of ethical conduct and technical expertise and, lapses in ethical behaviour will be investigated by your professional peers. You will need to report regularly on the training you undertake to maintain the technical expertise required in your workplace.
